Flurry Pinches $7M More for Mobile Analytics

Leading mobile analytics startup Flurry just raised $7 million in a second round of funding, reports VentureBeat. The funds will be used to expand services in the growing and potentially lucrative mobile metrics market.

Last month, Flurry merged with Pinch Media to go beyond just providing data and become a full-on media company for developers. Streamlining the two leading mobile analytics providers gave VCs further incentive to invest. InterWest Partners led the latest funding round and was joined by existing investors Draper Fisher Jurveston, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital and Draper Richards.

Flurry, which competes with the likes of Mobclix and Medialets, launched its analytics service for mobile platforms in January of 2009. The company now tracks more than a billion end user app sessions per month on the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android Cell phones, and has more than 10,000 developers. The company recently announced that it collects mobile application data from approximately two out of every three iPhone and Android devices. Last week, ComScore teamed up with Flurry to improve its mobile metrics tracking.

The company helps mobile developers and makes money through AppCircle, an app recommendation platform for mobile apps based on the tastes of a user. When a user buys an app based on a recommendation, Flurry gets a percentage of the profit. Flurry claims 130 developers are using AppCircle.Jointly Pinch Media and Flurry have previously raised over $3 million.
